It was an exciting trip, E had such a great time at the Singapore F1 race. It was such a dramatic race, though personally, I don't like the team that won...
Other than that, it was also a great time to see E's cousin TS and family. We also enjoyed Singapore's food and sights:)
I still have to download and organize my photos, so...stay tuned!

Random Things About Last Week
1. Went out with my good friends at work AC and MV. We ate at Pho Hoa, a Vietnamese Restaurant, and I loved their Shrimp and Pomelo Salad! I have another favorite salad place!
2. My friend DP who is based in Hongkong came to Manila on official business and spared some time to have lunch with me. We tried Secret Recipe at Shangrila Mall. I tried their Pan-grilled Dory, which was okay, but I found the sauce a bit salty. Ask that the sauce be served separately if you do decide to order this. They have "healthy" cakes, but we didn't get to try them. Maybe next time.
3. E and I watched West Side Story Friday night. Joanna Ampil played Maria that night. Before the show, we went to Teriyaki Boy for dinner. How I missed their Tempura Tuna Sashimi, and ordered that for myself. Oh no, that must have been at least 300 calories!!!
4. I was happy to know that I still lost some pounds, considering that I was only able to go to the gym once the week before, and that week included birthday celebrations for E and my niece Baby S. Not a good week for losing weight, but I made up by going thrice last week and spending at least 60 minutes on cardio workouts each time. I hope this week will be much better.

I Take It Back!:)
After a few hours, here I am, taking it all back:) Chowking responded to my text message offering to deliver the missed items to my home. Hey, I'm not that hard to please. I received the Tofu around 3 hours after my original text message, which is by the way Globe's fault -- but that's another matter for another post. I could have gotten it earlier, but it's ok, at least I didn't waste any money today. First thing I did was to email Chowking again to thank them for the attention.
So, I take everything I said back, and I will give them another chance:) Lessons learned: Check your Take Home orders, and, some companies do take Customer Service seriously. The next time you feel unhappy about service that is given to you, speak up!

I Hate Chowking!!!
Chowking was one of my and E's favorite fast food restaurants in recent months because of its Tofu (aka Tokwa) and Siomai. Today, after a looooonnnggg day in school, E said that we should just have dinner at home and if I could just buy dinner from Chowking. The Shell C-5 branch was along the way and I ordered our dinner there, which included 3 orders of Tofu, worth P108. When the guy came with my orders already in a bag, I just asked if it was complete and when he said yes, I left hurriedly, being so tired and hungry!
When I got home, the 3 orders of Tofu were nowhere to be found!!! As in I was kicking myself for not checking before I left the restaurant. I was so mad that I called their "customer service hotline", which unfortunately no one answered. So I sent a text message narrating my experience, and finally ending with "Why do you put your phone number in the receipt as a number to call when you don't even answer your phone???" , complete with the three question marks at the end. And I wasn't satisfied with that, I sent a rather long email to them. My complete order by the way was worth P388, which I now regret spending on Chowking products.
And I vowed never to return to any of their restaurants until my text or email is answered, and that depends on what kind of response I get!

First Day of My 15th Term of Teaching
I almost forgot to write about last Saturday, my first day for this new term . I never felt so tired after my classes. Six hours of lecture is really no joke, how do full-time teachers do it??? I still have to learn how to manage my energy so that I can last the day.
This term, I started my classes full of warnings to students (hehe) of how they can fail my class... Just so everyone knows what they're getting into. So I narrated how students managed to fail my class last term. But truth be told, I'm usually very "kind". I just didn't want them to think that, lest they take advantage of my kindness.
So, when three students came in 45 minutes after class started, I didn't let them get away with it: "Excuse me, are you in this class? Didn't you know that the class is supposed to start at 9? Well, when I've already checked attendance and you are not here (I check attendance 20 minutes after the start time, but I don't tell them that), you are considered absent. Today, you are considered absent. Bear in mind that there is a maximum number of allowed absences before you are dropped from the subject." Let's see what's going to happen this Saturday.

Birthday Surprise
Just got home from E's suprise birthday celebration. As far as E knew, we were just spending the afternoon together: hear mass, have lunch and then go to BPI to get our Land Title. I had to carefully plan what happens next...
Lunch Date at Cyma, Greenbelt 2 and finally, our released Land Title

I told him that I wanted to go to Powerplant Mall to buy that Nike shirt on sale that I saw last week and to buy a birthday gift for my niece Baby S. I originally planned to take him to the movies (we haven't gone in ages) to kill time, but the only interesting movie showing was "For the First Time", which he absolutely refused to see. So after taking my time on the two errands, it was still an hour before the event was going to take place. So, I said I wanted to go to Zara to look at what's new. I took time there, communicating with people through text messaging while pretending to be so interested in the fall and winter clothes on display. When I was taking too much time, E went to me and suggested that we just have dinner at home. Wow, major stress for me! I had to think fast. I didn't react violently. Instead, I said that I needed to go to the grocery to buy our dinner and other supplies. Of course I was panicking and texted people frantically...
While at the grocery, E's nephews suddenly appeared out of nowhere! E was so excited that he never thought that meeting his nephews was odd. They were afterall frequent visitors of Powerplant. Aha, the perfect excuse to lead him to the designated venue...
After paying for the grocery, I just asked the boys where their parents are so we can say hello...
SURPRISE!!!
Thanks so much to those who joined E tonight!
Venue: Cafe Sugarhouse. Powerplant Mall
Must tries: Beef Salpicado, Callos, Oriental Chicken Salad, Chinese Chicken Salad, Santa Fe Chicken, Marjolaine Cake, Mango Torte, Cashew Toffee Cake, French Apple Pie

My One and Only Free Saturday
My classes for the new term start on September 13 and I will be handling two classes. My Saturdays will be packed with a class at 9AM-12NN and another one at 1:30PM-4:30PM. For the next few months, my Saturdays will already be filled, so I wanted to spend my only free Saturday well.
What better way, than to spend the day with good friends and family? My college barkada planned another Salcedo Market day yesterday so I can join them as the market is only open Saturdays, 7AM-2PM. So after a good workout at home, I left to meet the girls at JV's condo. Turns out only JV and I will be able to do the marketing. The irony of it all? We were both on a diet. So, the smell of all the good food in the market was sheer torture to us. We vowed we would return when we've already achieved our goals. For ourselves, we bought mushroom dumplings, fresh lumpiang ubod to complement the green salad we planned to eat for lunch. For the rest, we bought the usual Ineng's barbecue, lasagna, lechon paksiw, guinataang kuhol, paella negro, spicy squid, siomai, hakaw and chicken relleno.
LB with son P, and SC joined us for lunch. It was a relaxing lunch, filled with updates about our lives. Of course we talked about the girls who were not present (haha! I'm kidding of course).
Sorry, no pictures! We were too busy eating and talking:)
In the evening, I, together with E, went to my parents' house for dinner. My Mom prepared this delicious salad of tofu, mushrooms and bell pepper especially for me! How sweet noh?:)

Night Out with Cousins
TS, Eric's cousin and our host in Ohio (read about TS and Ohio here), was home and so E and other cousins organized a get-together. The venue for the evening was Trio (2F Fort Pointe, Bonifacio Global City, Tel. No. 8841601), an Italian restaurant. Beer,Margaritas and other alcoholic drinks can be ordered in 3's, the beer comes out to about P40+ per bottle, but can't remember how much the Margaritas and other drinks were. Among the specialties of the restaurant are their pizzas, and you can order a Trio Pizza which contains 3 kinds of pizza of your choice. I know they ordered three Trio pizzas but did not really pay attention to which flavors they chose -- as I was afraid I would be tempted if I found out what they ordered. We also ordered the beef and tuna carpaccios, and a delicious eggplant appetizer. By the way, I ordered the Trio salad, which was also good!
Apologies for very few pictures, I only took some with my camera phone. I forgot to bring the camera again!!

The Tuna Carpaccio, which I really enjoyed

The funny thing about our meal at Trio was that the guys felt that all we had were appetizers! TS finally said, "Can we have sisig and rice?", hahaha! So off we went to Pier One which was located in the same complex. The guys ate the sisig (I think we ordered 3!), crispy pata, grilled squid, tuna belly and rice like they didn't eat anything at Trio!
