My family is planning to take an out of town trip on the weekend of April 5-7, a long weekend in the Philippines, to celebrate our parents' 39th wedding anniversary. We originally planned on Tagaytay and I've actually canvassed several places already. What we really wanted was to rent a 4-5 bedroom house for 2 nights. If this is not workable, then we can stay at a hotel and book 4 rooms. Our ideal scenario was to be able to stay at Tagaytay Highlands or Midlands. We're not members but my sister has friends who are members and we have actually stayed there twice. However, the cost to rent a house was not really within our budget (a one bedroom unit cost P17,000 per night 3 years ago). I also looked at the following hotels:
1. Hotel Kimberly - USD80++ per room per night
2. T House - min of P8,029 net per room per night
3. Boutique Hotel - min of USD140++ per room per night
4. Taal Vista Hotel- min of P6,500 net per room per night
The family wasn't satisfied with the choices because we really wanted a house, and the boutique hotels didn't look like they welcomed families, just couples. Besides, if we needed 4 rooms, we were way off our budget. We were close to deciding on Hotel Kimberly, but one comment was that it was a bit far from the Rotonda, where most of the restaurants and must see places were.
And then we had this bright idea. We liked Subic so much when we went a few weeks ago and we were so bitin with the stay, why don't we try booking a house there? I came across this site and was amazed at the range of accommodations in Subic: Where to stay in Subic.
The most expensive 4-bedroom house would be P9,500 per night and it could be as low as P7,500. The house would also have a kitchen so we can cook! And Subic's biggest edge over Tagaytay? Duty-free shopping! I hope the houses are not yet fully booked by now. Abangan!

Reg dear, am sure it makes your parents very happy to know how hard their beloved children are working to make sure they have a fabulous 39th anniversary. What else have you got in mind? Some tiny suggestions -- (1) a slide show of the past 39 years set to your parents' favorite love song, (2) a video of greetings from your family and your parents' best friends (3) a personalized coffee table book filled with photos and stories of the past 39 years, and (4) a special song-and-dance number by you, T, N and your respective spouses. Of course, you can combine any and all of the above.

Sweet D! Thanks for the suggestions=)
the houses in Forest Hills are really fab, especially considering the price you have to pay for it. Kitchen is complete with cooking amenities. One masters bedroom with queen-size bed and own T&B and two other room with two single/twin beds each. There's another T&B common for everybody else. The living room has a sofa bed, too.
Have fun! Have you tried Ocean Adventure? Saw this flyer re: a new theme park. Plus, the newly opened (though temporarily closed again) SCTExpressway is also great!
@9:13 PM - Thanks for the tip on Forest Hills! :-)
